Have to login twice

I have to login twice on power-on or after a reboot. I have carefully entered the correct password and rebooted several times.

At a minimum, we need:
1. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). What happens after the first login?
2. Which login manager do you use? (kdm (KDE) or gdm (Gnome))

Hi,

I'm using Maverick for a few days now and since yesterday I have the same problem.

I'm using GDM and on power-on I have to login a first time (and it's the correct password) but then GDM ask me again the password.

If I switch to tty1 I can login normally. If I switch back to tty7 I don't find GDM anymore but a black screen with some messages about the loading of the system and at the end I can see a line with strange characters. It's like the GDM login input doesn't have the focus when I enter my password first.

The second time I login, there is no problem.

I'm not home so I can't attach anything but tell what files you'll need.

Hey y'all - Brice and Dermot:
Affects me too. Go to bug report #626723 and re-report this, listed as duplicate so let's get the bug report count bumped up at the "original" thread. Pretty annoying bug! Kinda takes the smooth shiny edge off Maverick login for me. =)
