Language input key combination only works SHIF-ALT instead of ALT-SHIFT

On my netbook (and this ONLY happens on my netbook!), the key combination to change the language input only works when I do it SHIFT->ALT, instead of ALT->SHIF.

This is pretty annoying, since it's the other way round on other systems tha tI'm used to working with, and on every other computer I ever approach.

I don't understand why this happens.

Thanks a lot for reporting this to us. When you say this only happens on your netbook, how many other computers have you tried it on?

Chris, I've used Ubuntu/Xubuntu on several other computers, including two laptops, three desktops, and never encountered this phenomenon.

The netbook is an ASUS eeePC 1000, and it's the weirdest quirk I've encountered. It also happens consistently through different versions of Ubuntu.

I wonder if this is a hardware issue, where somehow pressing ALT locks out the Shift key?

The problem here is that the shortcut appears to be acted upon when the keys are pressed, rather than released, which is a known bug (bug #36812).
