Bug Description
Binary package hint: firefox
I am running Ubuntu 10.04, up to date, 32 bits.
I tried to open a huge (10.000 x 1.200 pixels approx) Wikipedia image, and everything crashed. Nor Firefox, Gnome or anything else responded from there. Not even ctrl+alt+del, ctrl+alt+backspace, alt+F2, etc.
Only the mouse moves, but rather slowly.

Can you confirm if the same happens to you?
A friend of mine also confirmed the issue.
I could replicate the problem with Xfce on the same system.
I could not replicate the problem with:
-Chromium on the same system
-the same Firefox (3.6.8) under Windows
-a friend's system with Mandriva (KDE) and the same Firefox (3.6.8).

Could you please generate an apport crash report for this? A crash report will help in resolving your problem.
You can enable apport for one instance like this in the terminal:
sudo service apport start force_start=1
I am marking this invalid as apport will open a new bug when the crash
is generated. Please include any relevant information from this report
in the new bug report. If you cannot generate a crash report, you can
reset the status of this one to new and we will try something else.
