Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

My screen sometimes goes to the "enter password to unlock" box when I move the mouse, without the screensaver (set to blank screen) being active first; this seems to be more likely after a few minutes of inactivity, but I do not have a reliable way to trigger it (it does not occur when the fade-out immediately preceding normal screensaver activation is interrupted).

It first occurred fairly recently, but I do not remember exactly when.

Dell Latitude D630 (Intel 965GM graphics) using internal monitor, Ubuntu 10.04 amd64 with auto updates, desktop effects off.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 623561

This will help us to find and resolve the problem. Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability to "Change Non-Private" data as it will be adding information to your bug report. Thanks in advance!

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's "Help -> Report a Problem" menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

I can't find anything in the logs produced by this bug, only the usual gnome-screensaver-dialog 3 lines from unlocking the screen after it. Is there anywhere else I should look?

I haven't seen this yet in Maverick, so I'm guessing it's fixed. Will reopen if it appears again.

Sorry, it seems I wasn't paying attention; this bug has gone, the problem I have now is the desktop reappearing before the unlock dialog when the screensaver is active (bug 390989).
