Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu maverick (development branch)
Release: 10.10

$ apt-cache policy gnome-applets
gnome-applets:
  Installed: 2.30.0-3ubuntu2
  Candidate: 2.30.0-3ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 2.30.0-3ubuntu2 0

        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I hope this is the right place to file this, I am still unsure and offer my apologies if I guessed incorrectly, but the CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor applet from the gnome-applets collection does not properly display the correct color text when the "Ambiance-maverick-beta" theme is chosen.

Instead of having the text showing the current CPU frequency display in white with the dark theme, it displays in black which makes it impossible to read.

Just a minor quirk, I hope I filed it correctly. Thanks!

Sure thing! I have attached a screen shot that shows the problem. The CPU frequency monitor applet that is suffering from the problem is in the bottom right next to the system monitor applet and the workspace switcher. You can still see the icon and if you look at it just right, you can barely see the text, but it's black on black.

Thanks!

Being forced to use the 'new' Ambiance theme with the light-themes update today see exactly the same thing
(was previously using the available non beta Ambiance where all is fine

Similar to the blacked out context menu items - impossible to read.

Ok, I have found this problem in other area's such as firefox add-on's and it may be necessary to move this bug into the Maverick Ambiance theme package as the problem seems to be a theme issue and not an applet issue as I first suspected...

I also confirm this bug using the latest Maverick updates. Can't confirm it for Firefox add-ons though, can you provide a screenshot?

Yes, its too difficult to read cpu frequency because of dark color in dark background.

I thought the display has gone bad until I saw this bug. When I go close and look, I find the text. I mean, what a shame. Just because Ubuntu tried the Radiance theme for 10.10, you changed the default font color for an applet?!
