New Starling Netbook microphone does not work

Model: star 3
OS: Ubuntu 10.04

I received new computer 3 days ago, tried to record something audio, no sound is recorded. Ran Skype testcall, do not hear audio playback from test call.

Hi Michael,

For the microphone left-click the speaker icon at the top right of the screen and choose Sound Preferences. Click the Input tab. Increase the Input Volume to about 100% and change the Connector to either:

Microphone 2 = Microphone Jack
Microphone 3 = Internal Mic

Test with Sound Recorder or Skype.

I just purchased netbook asus model 1215p, unfortunately the microphone does not work. input volume already set to max, but I can not find Microphone 2 = Microphone Jack
Microphone 3 = Internal Mic as you mentioned

Please help me I need this microphone works

I use os ubuntu 10.04

The fix that was sent to me for my netbook worked for me. I followed the
instructions that were sent and my microphone has worked ever since.

If you have a different computer, the fix sent to me for bug 622514 may not
work for you. However, since you are running 10.04 which is the OS that I
have the instructions should work for you as well.

If you continue to have problems, I would open a new request for help. The
only other time I had an issue, the System76 folks were very responsive to
my request. They will find a solution to your problem.

The solution listed above worked for me. It should work for you since you are running the same OS level. System76 will find a solution for you. - Michael Flood
