Bug Description
I bought a used hard drive that I didn't know had been used in a RAID setup. When I tried to install Ubuntu 10.04 onto it, the install program would "freeze" whenever it tried to access the drive to partition it. At that point the install program becomes completely unresponsive and you have to reboot the computer. I suggest that the install program should be able to detect that a drive is configured for RAID and give you the option to change that before reaching the partitioning stage. At least the installer program should come up with an error message telling you why it can't continue.
The following links describe using "sudo apt-get remove dmraid" to reconfigure the drive and fix the problem. Thank you for your work resolving bugs.
