tried "openarena +set s_alCapture 0" but it doesn't help.
i have sound before the crash.

it's a regression: 0.8.1-8 -> 0.8.5-3

seems it's not happening on *all* servers, but on most. So it may be tied to some versions of the servers.
The ones i usually join are all affected.

I suspect this is bug #584393, and OA 0.8.5 just makes it more likely to happen...
