Thanks for taking the time to report this. Unfortunately, I'm not able to reproduce this. Could you provide steps that would better help me reproduce the issue?

Thunderbird was upgraded today along with the new kernel. Everything I try to do, from clicking on a message to checking account settings causes it to terminate. It's getting worse - I can't start it at all anymore. It appears briefly in sysinfo then terminates.

How can I revert to a previous version? I need Thunderbird to be able to continue testing Maverick, as it's an integral part of my work. Evolution just doesn't do what Thunderbird can do with the right plugins.

I'm not dumb enough to rely on it exclusively, as my other partition runs on Lucid, and the mail folders contain the same messages. It's just that I can't use Maverick during business hours without Thunderbird.

I tried launching it from the terminal, and got this output:

Thank you for the update. Did you have lightning installed? You must upgrade to lightning 1.0b2 for Thunderbird 3.1.

I had lightning but removed it with the Synaptics package manager, and it's not in the repositories. Is it possible to install it from the terminal? I downloaded the latest version.

Keep in mind that as far as the terminal is concerned, I need detailed instructions written in large letters with a grease pencil.

Wow! Thunderbird is back and working perfectly with your fix.

Thanks much - now I can keep testing Maverick.

FYI - I also use Thunderbird as my CRM, sending personalized newsletters with the Mailtweaks plugin and easily composing and inserting HTML messages with another one, QuickText.

You see why it's become so important to me.
