I checked my file, and despite no errors, there seems to be a syntax error right where your error is coming from. "libxcursor1 (>> 1.1.2)" looks incorrect to me.

Alexander: that syntax is perfectly fine. In any case, your /var/lib/dpkg/available is unlikely to be identical to that of the original reporter.
