Thanks for your bug. Could you get a backtrace with libgtk2.0-0-dbg and gnome-control-center-dbg installed?

Well ...

I installed those packages and tried to reproduce the bug and I was not able to however.....

Instead of Control Center Crashing.

*Nine* (9) other applications simultaneously crashed while scrolling though GTK themes in gnome-theme-manager.

gnome-mixer-applet
gnome-cups-icon
gnome-power-manager
seahorse-daemon
nm-applet
update-notifier

and gnome-panel (which I suppose caused the above apps to crash).

Oh and then there is gspot (which I find odd because I wasn't running it. -or maybe I misread the stack trace).

Should I file individual bug reports for these?

In the meantime I've attached the stack traces if you're interested.

Those backtrace look a different issue due to GTK, a backtrace for the gnome-control-center issue would still be useful if you get the bug again

That's what I figured, but I thought I'd ask.

So do I file individual bugs for all those packages?

No, all the crash seem to be the same GTK error, feel free to open a gtk+2.0 bug with a description of what you were doing when you got the crash

Err, I should just mention that the stack trace attached above is identical to the first bug report...just scrolling through the themes and Bzap! (And I mean bzap in the most technical way possible)

And here it is again with the debug packages installed...

could you try to valgrind log (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind) for that issue too?

Unfortunately, I can't now because I ended up reinstall from scratch because I couldn't get an eclipse configuration that worked correctly, and now everything seems to be working fine.

The control center crashing occured after a dapper to edgy upgrade.

Angrykeyboarder: did you have any luck in reproducing this?

Hi,

I have the same problem - three apps crashed while I was changing the theme from Human to "high Contrast" and back. I also have Gtk-Qt Theme installed (in KDE), and this was selected before, so perhaps this had something to do with it.

This also happened after an upgrade from Dapper to Edgy.

marking as duplicate of bug #71345 which seems to be the same problem
