Bug Description

The touchpad is working but it is not recognized in
xinput --list
instead there is a 'Macintosh mouse button emulation'.
There is no 'touchpad' tab in System->Preferences->Mouse.
I cannot disable tapping in my touchpad.

I attach

* /proc/bus/input/devices
* xinput --list
* cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log

as asked in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection

I couldn't submit each file separately, I include then like a tarball.

Hi antonella,

If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

I tested against
 linux-image-2.6.36-999-generic_2.6.36-999.201009180905_i386.deb

still there isn't any 'touchpad' tab in 'system->preferences->mouse'.
