Bug Description
Binary package hint: kdepim
It is very common to display text mails in a monospace font. Not only are people used to that, people who write text-only mails often use text-formating which is mostly broken in non-monospace fonts.
So my suggestion is to set this as the default.
I guess this maybe should also be reported to KDE upstream. Will you forward this or should I?

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your feature request may have been implemented with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. I believe it is (now) possible to set the fonts, so you should be able to pick a mono-spaced font.
When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect 619395 and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
