Bug Description
When scrolling in the place view (be it applications or files) the amount it jumps on each scroll "click" seems to be determined in a rather odd way. Instead of scrolling a fixed amount for a certain movement on the trackpad, the view seems to think that the amount should vary so that by moving my finger from the top to the bottom on the side of the trackpad, I scroll from the top to the bottom of the entire list. (I know that was hard to understand, but try scrolling on a large list in a place view and compare it to a smaller list.)
Overall, what this does is for times where the list is just slightly off screen, It takes forever for me to scroll, and when the list is long, it takes huge leaps, and it is easy to lose the item I was looking for.
This problem existed in the old netbook launcher (from Karmic) too, but it wasn't fixed there.
To sum it up, scrolling in unity should scroll a fixed amount per scroll "click."
I have this problem running unity over ubuntu maverick alpha 3 on a Dell Mini 10v.
