back-forward buttons are misplaced in applications and files places

While using Unity on a dell mini 10v over ubuntu maverick, I realized that whenever I start the applications place or the files place, the boxes around the back/forward arrows are not aligned properly. However, once I search for something, they snap into place, and stay like that until I go back to another application. See the screenshot attached to see what I mean.
