Bug Description
Binary package hint: pidgin
To test a connection outside their work network, a colleague of my daughter sent a "buddy request" through his IM client. I chose to deny the request ... the work had been done and their internal systems were working. However, EVERY DAY I get a number of requests from the same person, and this has been going on for a couple of months now. I deny the requests, and they keep piling up. I just denied the request 5 times (they accumulated over the last 4-5 hours ... I had denied a few more before that).
I tried accepting his request, and the requests stopped. But when I deleted him from my buddy list, the requests began again.
There should be some way for a denial to be permanent (at least until the next request).
I'm running Linux, Mint-7 (Gloria), on a Toshiba Satellite A205-S4587 with 4 gig of memory and a 500-gig HD. I'm using the onboard wireless network connection, and everything seems to be working perfectly (better than under the original Windows Vista!).
Pidgin is 2.5.5
I expect when I "deny" a buddy request, the system stops asking about that person unless and until he or she asks again.
I just got two more requests for the same individual.
I hope this gives you enough to work with. Thanks!

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Do you get the same with Maverick? Thanks in advance.
