Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

firefox-3.6.8 - Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu Canonical - 1.0

 lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS
Release: 8.04

I updated flash using firefox app, tools ,Add-ons, plugins, find updates.

It said:
Shockwave Flash
Shockwave Flash 9.0 r48 Outdated Version Update

So I downloaded the new version
install_flash_player_10_linux(2).deb

so now all I have for flash is the little picture that says you flash player has crashed.
If I log out and say log in as root, then use firefox that works fine and it say has the new version, no crash happens

Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. It sounds like you installed the old flash plugin in your profile. Could you please try this with a new profile and see if the problem still exists? You do not need to delete your old profile to test. If this helps, you might want to try to disable all your extensions and re-enable them one by one until you find the problematic one.

You can start the profile manager with the following command:
firefox -ProfileManager
