Bug Description

Binary package hint: software-center

Ubuntu Software Center 2.1.10 Maverick 10.10

In the "Get Software > Developer Tools > Version Control" category it list VCSs and GUIs. However the only VCS in the top list is Bazaar. Other VCSs like Git, Subversion, CVS, and Mercurial are under the "20 other technical items".

Obviously if Bzr is in the top list the others should be too.

This comes down to the fact that bazaar had a .desktop file in app-install-data and cvs, subversion, mercurial etc. don't

I am reassigning it to those projects as software-center is just parsing data. If you feel I have done this incorrectly, please reopen in SC with your reasons :)

The "Technical items" thing is near invisible; I never even knew about it until I came here looking to file a bug about git missing in the software central. We should perhaps file a new bug against the software central to make "technical items" (many of which are quite common even if they're not graphical in nature) more prominent. Have them in the same list, but with a nice, large divider between the graphical tools toward the top and the others below.

...and I completely forgot to mention my main point with the previous comment: searching for "git" does not show the "technical items", leading people to think it's not in the repo at all. Targeted searches, if nothing else, should show all available stuff, not just the graphical ones.
