This bug happened every time I pressed the Applications icon in the new meerkat unity icon menu down the left side of the screen in the netbook edition (alpha3)

Since an update on 26th August, the crash occurs only when using the menu application is running - displayed and clicking. I have not yet worked out the specific trigger to make it crash.

I still get this crash on the September 20 daily build. (Yes, exact this one, in <g_type_check_instance+35>: mov).
