I upgrade through download from 10.04 to 10.10 Alpha 3. Duel boot Xp Linux. The kernel has never updated and I am running with 10.04 kernel.. Hence this kernel update failure is a repeat of previous problem.

Upstream Debian problem 586554 caused by iscan-data error.
Bypass is to remove iscan from Maverick.
Fixed in iscan-data (1.0.1)
