Bug Description

Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".
X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).

this message comes up a after i have installed ati driver and run glxgears

Thank you for your bug report. Can you please attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /etc/X11/xorg.conf files?

There are better described bug reports available on similar subjects, and on the other hand "after i have installed ati driver" sounds like fglrx being installed, bug reports of which belong under linux-restricted-modules package.
