inkscape crashes on opening file

Inkscape 0.47 r22583 (Apr 4 2010) on AMD64 Ubuntu Lucid Lynx

Program crashes *most* of the time when opening attached file. Will try to get a backtrace.

Crash not reproduced with Inkscape 0.48+devel r9692 on oS X 10.5.8, but Inkscape uses a lot of memory to just open the file and render its initial view. Other applications and the system are not responding intermittently (due to swapping?), on a system with 2GB RAM.

Inkscape's performance when rendering huge paths with thousands of nodes (as for example some of the paths on layer 'Section' have [1]) is known to be slow and needing a huge amount of memory.

File reopened several times with both mentioned version without crash.

File opens fine on another machine of mine with an identical software load - my guess is that this points to either a hardware problem or an issue with inkscape config files - I'll try re-installing Inkscape when I get back to work.

There's one difference to my tests of course - Inkscape doesn't load any of the linked bitmaps here. These certainly will add to memory consumption (see for example Bug #441777 “Inkscape crashes when png-files are imported”: though that report was with an older Inkscape version on Windows).

Does this issue still persist with current stable Inkscape 0.91?
