Sound Does Not Work In Lucid

Binary package hint: dosemu

Dosemu sound does not work in lucid. Worked well in Karmic and at least two previous versions.
After booting sound works but garbled until a key is pressed on the keyboard after that no sound at all.

Also doesn't work for me in (K)Ubuntu 11.04.

$ dosemu --version
dosemu-1.4.0.1

# sound support on/off; use (2) for newer experimental sound code
$_sound = (2)

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

The problem persists in 14.04.

The solution with the parameter in /etc/dosemu/dosemu.conf works:
$_sound = (2)

Could you please make it the default setting?

Alternative solution is to emulate /dev/dsp. Start dosemu this way:
sudo padsp dosemu
