hm.. i was talking about the "default grid" settings (Edit\Preferences\Default grid\), and yes it's reproductible.. but i just found that i can change the grid's values from (Image/Configure grid) which does exactly what i wanted, still for the "default settings" to be changed you need to restart GIMP 2.6.8 and i can't think of any reason why should a restart be needed.
