All too often, drivers are available for a limited time. I've (Blake Martin) written a script that uses the linkchecker program to ascertain whether the various drivers used are still available or not. This should be set up as a cron job on the server and should automatically remove any drivers that become unavailable for any reason. They should be placed in a quarantine for admin oversight; if the links are indeed dead, they need to be removed from the database.
