Lockup not as severe as in earlier versions of Ubuntu and was able to recover gracefully instead of through hard reboot. No discernible pattern on why it locks.

I just installed Maverick ISO and had two lock-ups. Both occurred when creating a new terminal window. The lockups ended after a few minutes and I was able to continue working without rebooting.
