PolicyKit authentication does not work over X forwarding

If I use my main computer from my laptop using X forwarding:

(go to tty1 and login)
xinit -- :1
(go to the new tty with xterm)
ssh delan.local gnome-session

any authentication dialogs using PolicyKit do not work, instead immediately failing, causing the program to throw an "access denied"-style message. Examples: actions in Disk Utility, updating in Update Manager (PolicyKit introduced over gksu in maverick only for this)
