Bug Description

Binary package hint: phonon

I am using Lucid 10.04 with an AMD64x2.
After my last package update some days ago the phonon sound does not work any more!
When i login, i get the message that my audio device is not working (see attached screenshot phonon-crash.jpg).

Before my last update the sound works without problems.
I tried to analyze the problem and found out that the configuration file phonondevicesrc is different now.
When i replace it with the old file from an system-backup the sound is working again.

I attached the configuration files for the old and new configuration.
When you make a diff you can see that the entry "deleted=false" has changed to "deleted=true".
And there is a complete new section "[AudioDevice_Playback/recording through the PulseAudio sound server_capture]"
I don't know what this properties are good for, but it seems to make a difference !?

The file phonondevicesrc is overwritten again, so the replacement is not a solution.

I have found this german forum thread with a good description of a similar problem:
http://www.linuxforen.de/forums/showthread.php?t=267076

I analyzed the last installed packages and found out that pulseaudio has been installed.
After deinstallation KDE asked to remove the pulseaudio part from the configuration.
Then the problem has gone.

The integration of pulseaudio in phonon is the problem!

Changed in phonon (Ubuntu):
