I simply tried to install via
'sudo apt-get install gddrescue'

The messages collected above where created from my removal attempts.

Thanks for your report.

The package database is in an inconsistent state because a previous installation process has been abruptly interrupted.
You can fix it by reinstalling the package with the command:
$sudo apt-get install --reinstall gddrescue

Then you'll be able to remove the package.

If that fix your issue, then set the status to 'invalid'. Thanks and don't hesitate to submit any new bug.

I tried the install several times...that caused the inconsistence.
The install generated the inconsistence, but it seems something in the
background of the package install went wrong.

I tried with the LiveDVD and when I rebooted back into my System
it was no problem to reinstall.

Hmmm.
