Bug Description

Binary package hint: udisks

1)
Description: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
Release: 10.04

2)

udisks:
  Installed: 1.0.1-1ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1.0.1-1ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 1.0.1-1ubuntu1 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-updates/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     1.0.1-1build1 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages

3) After I installed Ubuntu I noticed one of my disks was not seen in nautilus. Further investigating made me use the gnome-disk-util app and there I saw that the drive was seen.

4) This particular drive has one NTFS partition that is contained by an Extended partition, and this utility did no see it. Since it uses udisks I did the following:

$ sudo fdisk -l
Disk /dev/sdc: 250.1 GB, 250059350016 bytes
16 heads, 63 sectors/track, 484521 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 1008 * 512 = 516096 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x19c9893d

   Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdc1 * 2 484521 244198080 5 Extended
/dev/sdc5 5 484521 244196352 7 HPFS/NTFS <-- see I do have a NTFS partition

This bug is probably related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-disk-utility/+bug/571038 as both results from incorrect data from udev udisks.
