This bug is dvd dependent. I got the same (or similar) error on one Disney FastPlay DVD. The process eats memory without limit (at least 10 GB at 8 GB amd64 computer before I killed it). Tested few other disks and they worked fine on the same computer.

Following error was printer to terminal:

====
bash$ lsdvd /dev/dvd
libdvdread: Using libdvdcss version 1.2.13 for DVD access

*** libdvdread: CHECK_VALUE failed in /build/buildd/libdvdread-4.2.0/src/ifo_read.c:1257 ***
