Bug Description

Binary package hint: thunderbird

When Thunderbird is running the system does not go into correct automatic suspend or hibernate mode at idle (only screen is black but the system is still alive). If I close down Thunderbird everything work fine.

I have multiple IMAP accounts that regularly checks for new email. Have tried to remove the automatic checks with no improvements.

This has been the case for many system versions at least 8.04 to 10.04 32 bit

Maybe for more debug info, try launching Thunderbird from a terminal, leave it to its misbehaving for a while, then paste the print results.

No output at all when launched from a terminal. Left the computer in idle for a while (to allow it to suspend) and when I "wake" it up there is nothing in the terminal (beside the command to launch Thunderbird)

Hello Benny,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.

You made this bug report in 2010 and there have been several versions of Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect BUGNUMBER

and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.

G
