Bug Description
Instead of displaying the most recent files and "See n more results", Unity should expand the current Zeitgeist integration and display related files/contacts/etc. (as seen in GAJ) to the user's focused activity when the CoF is clicked. This behavior, associated to the CoF, could strongly convey a "what can Ubuntu do for me?" feeling to the action of clicking it.
Use cases:
a) I'm browsing GUADEC's website in Chromium and a question suddenly occurs. (Quoting Seif Lofty) "What did I do at last year’s GUADEC?"
b) Estelle edits photos in Shotwell and sends them to a friend in Empathy, she wants to know if she has already sent the photo she is editing.
Two ways of getting an answer :
(Actual Unity way)
a) Click the CoF -> Search by typing "guadec".
b) Send it again, ask the contact or browse conversation history.
(Proposed way)
a) Click the CoF.
b) Click the CoF.
This is quite interesting. The current implementation of the screen when you click on the CoF was unfinished. It's meant to be a home screen with a couple of rows of activities that the user can start to do (will land this week).
However your idea is quite interesting for a context-specific home screen (or even if you could do context-specific things another way, as you might not want the homescreen to keep changing, leaving it a 'safe place' to come to). I'm assigning to John, who is the design lead for Unity, for his opinions.
