Bug Description

every attempt to suspend my new thinkpad edge 13" (01962EG) fails: the screen goes off, the led starts flashing, fan continues to run = the machine is stuck = hard reboot. i have read several related bug reports. i have tried so far kernel 2.6.31-11-rt / 2.6.32-21...24, booted in a rootshell (pm-suspend) and deactivated network-manager without better results.. upstream testing failed as well.

Hi flo2010,

If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

i forgot to mention: no sd-card was inserted when suspending. (there was a fix for the same problem related to the card reader).
installing mainline kernel produced dependency problem, but i was able to boot with it. the suspend problem is still the same!

booting live from lucid-lynx-amd64-cd does not change anything.. tried it with windows: suspend/resume works: no hardware issue

hallo,

it is not the same bug.

1: suspend / resume form root-shell without gnome) does not work either
2: when i suspend manually (via menu in gnome), the problem remains

thx, flo.

I'll unmark it for now, but since these are similar issues (suspend failure) on similar hardware (Thinkpad Edge 13), it may be a good idea for you to subscribe to the other bug.

Could you post the pm-suspend.log, kern.log, messages, and dsmeg from the time this error occurs? Try suspending the machine, and then copy and paste the relevant sections of these files using the Log File Viewer (System -> Administration -> Log File Viewer).

By the way, from your BootDmesg.txt it appears you are affected by bug #552880 as well.

Hmm, weird I don't see any obvious problems, even in the pm-suspend.log. Maybe someone with more skills will be able find the problem.

Thanks for posting these.
