kernel 2.6.32-23-generic - errors - soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 61s! [events:0/6]
kernel 2.6.32-24-generic - errors - soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 61s! [events:0/6]

no problems with 9.04

Hi Maurice,

If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

I forgot this occurs at boot before any logo's or graphics appear on the screen.

after updating yesterday I nolonger get this error message - just cannot boot
udevadm trigger is not permitted while udev is unconfigured
Gave up for root device. Common problems:
...
ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/70.... does not exist. Dropping to a shell!
