Bug Description

System: Ubuntu 10.04 amd64
Soundcard: Realtek ALC268

This happened after updating the kernel from 2.6.32.23 to 2.6.32.24 and booting with the new kernel -- also updated the linux-alsa-driver-modules to 2.6.32-24.201007250500 from https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-audio-dev/+archive/ppa.

Alsa-info attached.

If I boot with the previous kernel version (2.6.32.23), the soundcard is recognized as expected.

In an attempt to fix the problem, I followed these directions to upgrade Alsa, but it didn't make any difference:

i have the same problem, but with a Realtek ALC665. Took me several weeks to get it working after the release of Lucid, and the only way I can get sound is by compiling Realtek's version of the alsa-drivers (1.0.23-5.15rc5) (from here: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx%3FLangid%3D1%26PNid%3D14%26PFid%3D24%26Level%3D4%26Conn%3D3%26DownTypeID%3D3%26GetDown%3Dfalse) with each new kernel upgrade. However, since 2.6.32-24 landed, I can't get any sound no matter what I do. Booting back in to 2.6.32-23 still works though, thankfully :)

There is a bug in the current daily snapshot, see
http://mailman.alsa-project.org/pipermail/alsa-devel/2010-July/029840.html

Marking as invalid as it doesn't apply to standard Ubuntu repositories. It is also unrelated to the .23 -> .24 kernel update.
