Bug Description

Similar to 49579 (Dapper)

If any application menu, or any other drop down menu of the upper bar is open, the screen-saver fails to start.

The screen doesn't fade, but it locks and fades as soon as the menu is closed.

I'm just speculating here, but this is probably caused by the same thing that makes your volume keys not work when a menu is open. It's a design problem in how menus work all the way upstream in X. It's difficult to fix, but I strongly believe it should be since it presents an inconsistency in the UI. In the case of the screensaver, it can actually damage some monitors.

Marked as duplicate of bug #10905 since, even though the effect is different, the cause is the same and fixing one will fix the other. On that note, this is a WONTFIX since this menu behaviour is part of the design of X.
