Bug Description
Availability:
libdbi0 is in universe already and has been in Debian a very long time (since May 2002).
Rationale:
libdbi0 is used in collectd, which is also being pushed for main inclusion for UEC monitoring
https:/
It is also a dependency of rrdtool as of v1.4, which is already in main, and is required by collectd, and is being merged from debian.
Security:
There are no known CVE's for libdbi. It is purely a library, and does not install any executables.
Quality assurance:
The package is a single patch release behind in debian, as there is a newer upstream that has been sitting un-released for quite some time. v0.8.3 appears to be mostly a minor bugfix update. The debian maintainer has been somewhat unresponsive of late, but still appears active in Debian, and so probably just needs some gentle nudges to update it.
UI standards: N/A
Dependencies:
All of libdbi's dependencies are already in main. However, libdbi is mostly useless without at least one of the drivers built by libdbi-drivers. I would suggest promoting them to main as well.
Standards compliance:
The package meets FHS and Debian Policy requirements.
Maintenance:
The package is a very simple C wrapper library and the packaging is fairly straightforward.

[bump]
Lack of libdbi in main is causing rrdtool 1.4.3 (uploaded today) to FTBFS. This should already be on the archive admins' radar, but just wanted to pop up here and get it looked at again, thanks!
