Bug Description

Binary package hint: util-linux

Associating a file with a loop device via losetup creates a udev-event. This event is then propagated and causes nautilus to offer to mount the loop device (this is good). Unfortunately, no event is created when deleting an association. This causes nautilus to still offer to mount a device which isnt there anymore.

1) Ubuntu release:
Description: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Release: 10.04

2) Package version:
mount 2.17.2-0ubuntu1

3) Expected behaviour:
"udevadm monitor" should show up a change event for /devices/virtual/block/loopX when deleting an association with /dev/loopX.

4) Current behaviour:
No udev-event is shown.

Can't reproduce the bug on Maverick Beta live CD and on Lucid, when running the latter with a vanilla 2.6.35.4 kernel instead of the official 2.6.32-24-generic. According to this, the issue must have been a kernel one, fixed before 2.6.35.4.

Yes, I believe this was a kernel issue that was fixed some time ago.
