Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-disk-utility

I can lock my keyboard/mouse through the shutdown utility. But I can't lock my CD/DVD door from the disk utility. This is an oversight. Some people want this feature to protect the drive from their 2 year olds. I just want it because I move my laptop around all the time while it's on. The eject switch is right where one would normally grasp the laptop's edge and so the door constantly pops open. Please add a button/indicator in the Disk Utility GUI next to the eject button so I can lock/unlock my CD/DVD door. Thx.

Good idea. This can most likely be added to wishlist.

Rising Eagle,

Please try the man pages for eject by executing "man eject" in the terminal. There is an option to lock the eject button on a cd-rom. This option might meet your needs until a feature in the disk utility can be implemented.

       -i on|1|off|0
This option controls locking of the hardware eject button. When
enabled, the drive will not be ejected when the button is pressed.
This is useful when you are carrying a laptop in a bag or case and
don't want it to eject if the button is inadvertently pressed.

Will also see if this bug is logged upstream.
