Bug Description
Binary package hint: kdemultimedia
I must say I'm more than a bit disheartened to see bugs like #121177 marked invalid, as I stumbled across this bug today for the first time, with a fully up-to-date 10.04 install. I don't care whether the reason is "Amarok doesn't play audio CDs", or "Amarok doesn't support kioslaves", or "KSCD can play discs just fine", the original bug is still there.
When I insert an audio CD, I get a helpful autorun dialog, which gives me the following options:
- rip CD iwth k3b
- copy CD with k3b
- open disc with Dolphin
- play disc with Amarok
No matter which of my 2 disc drives I use, Amarok keeps reporting "0 tracks" (when I press eject, it does open the correct tray). And when I choose "open disc with Dolphin", it shows no tracks and reports "failed to read" in the statusbar. Only k3b handles the disc well, but that's useless to me because I don't want to rip. I want to play.
Some reports mention the ability to change the device path to the cdrom drive in Amarok's settings, but:
- that option does not appear to exist in this version (2.3.0)
- the whole point of using a DE is the ability to be blissfully unaware of device files
Of course, the CD plays just fine with vlc.

Well then. This needs to be fixed in Amarok. Closing this report in favor of the KDE one, please refer there for status updates. Thanks.
