Bug Description
Binary package hint: firefox-3.0
Firefox hangs when launched--the frame and an initial tab is displayed but the tab never gets populated. Launching Chrome or other browser works fine. It is likely that the problem is an unresponsive URL accessed in the launch process, but there seems no easy way to discover what that URL is.

Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Perhaps one of your extensions is the issue? Could you please try to load Firefox in safe mode, which disables all addons, to see if that's the case?
You can do this with the following command with Firefox closed:
firefox -safe-mode
