Bug Description

Binary package hint: apport

It would be nice if there were a way to allow apt-cache to query the version of all the software that it returns in search, such as with another flag like --software-version

Maybe this requirement is the same as bug http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=236270?

This looks like the same bug as that URL, except the bug has gone UNFIXED for SIX YEARS!
