Bug Description

steps to reproduce
scan 1 page
right click image select crop then letter
rotate page CCW. this is the direction i tested with.
click save. doesn't matter what format as none save but varies message in error bod

save as pdf results in this message: "Failed to save file\n couldn't allocate memory for loading JPEG file"

you should also have people run the debug line as simple-scan --debug > simple-scan.log 2>&1 that way stderr is captured

steps taken in log
run simple-scan --debug > simple-scan.log 2>&1
scan page
crop ->letter
rotate CCW
save -> fails resulting in msg above
rotate back CW
save -> works fine

this bug doesn't happen if you rotate then crop. only happens when you crop then rotate.'

Yeah I'd like to confirm this. I did the same steps (I may have rotated multiple times; I don't remember exactly). Anyways, rotating it again allowed me to save it.

I had the same error, when I was saving the scan into my "Pictures" directory. The error didn't show up, when saving the scan into my home directory.

I didn't find out the reason.

So the application does not crash but only display that message? Could you attach a screenshot of that message? You can keep working with the program and even successfully save the scan after rotating it some more and maybe changing the location?

Yes.

The message shows up in every location like Deskop, home, Images - location doesn't matter - but only after "scan + crop + rotate" procedure. Before "crop + rotate" file can be saved, after crop -> file can be saved.
Only when You scan, crop and rotate, file->save - choose location ie: /home -> save -> and shows this message:
"Failed to save file\n couldn't allocate memory for loading JPEG file".

Actually, I can't reproduce bug on Ubuntu, becouse I use Debian (squeeze) and simple-scan 2.31.1 works perfectly.

This is an old bug in Ubuntu 10.04, (10.10?) - imho lets forget about it.
