Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Since I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 with OpenOffice 3.2.0, OOO320m12 (Build:9483), I regularly encounter that files I have worked on previously, needs to be repaired before I can open them. One of my files went corrupt completely, with garbage text all over, instead of my spreadsheet format.

Yes you are correct this file is completely corrupted, its not even an ods format file at all, which is a special type of zip file with xml files inside it. Have you had trouble with other file types on your system?

No, not yet so far that I know of. I restored a backup file of the one that went corrupted and it work fine for the past week, until today when I opened it. Corrupted again.

I restored an old file and worked on it since my previous message above until now. My file went corrupt again. Any progress so far on this issue? All my other spreadsheet files works fine. I suppose it must be some feature used in this file that makes it corrupt?
This is really frustrating.

I have set my OpenOffice to make a backup copy of my file every time I save it, hoping to have a backup when the file corrupts again. Well, guess what? My file went corrupt, again, and the backup file .... 0 bytes, nothing in it.

This time I created the file from scratch within OpenOffice. It went fine for a few weeks now (3-4), but guess what? It went corrupt again. This is becoming very frustrating. I cannot trust OpenOffice anymore to do my work on. Previously I proudly introduced OpenOffice to my friends as an alternative to MS Office, but now I'll rather keep quiet about it.

Another spreadsheet file went corrupt. Attached is the dialog window that opens when I try to open it.
