Bug Description
Binary package hint: grub2
I have a Medion MD 95500 with 2GB RAM and 1.72 Ghz processor.
I have a dual boot with Windows XP and Ubuntu 10.04 installed. XP was installed first, Ubuntu later.
XP is on sda1, Ubuntu is on sda6 (ext 4) and the linux-swap is sda7.
When I boot the first time I get the grub2 menu to let me choose between Ubuntu or XP.
I can reboot Ubuntu as many times as I want and I always get the grub2 menu with Ubuntu and XP.
But ... if I choose Windows XP the first time to boot and restart the computer, I don't enter the grub2 menu anymore, so I can't choose Ubuntu anymore after booting XP :-(
I have reinstalled grub2 several times (with Ubuntu Live Cd) and every time I keep getting the same problem : when Windows closes it seems to overwrite (or make dissapear?) grub2 in the MBR.
Anyone else encountered this problem?
This sounds like some badly behaving Windows software rather than a bug in grub.
