Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and improve Ubuntu. Could you please check if the same thing happens with the latest available updates of update-manager on Maverick, as this bug has been reported with version 1:0.142.4 and the latest available version is 1:0.142.19 in the main repositories and 1:0.142.23 in the -updates repositories, both are newer then the version you are using.
