I can reproduce the bug with the same file with the trunk version of mpd :
0.15.10+git20100630.002b283-0ubuntu1~ripps1~lucid

This appears to be resolved in the maverick packages. I've upgraded just my libavcodec52 and mpd packages from the lucid-released versions to maverick, and found these crashes stopped
