So we use applyDeprecated when a test targets deprecated- but-supported API calls; that way the test swallows the warning message that would otherwise be displayed on the command line. In this way we prevent regressions for as long as we carry around the deprecated API.
Do I understand this correctly? And at some point (major versions?) we drop the deprecated API and associated tests.
