Bug Description

When I install ubuntu on my laptop, my screen flickers all the time. as soon as it is in a more graphical part, it runs as normal, but during all those blue-background text-and-some-colors install parts (with the running percentages and such), my screen flickers quite fast. The laptop is an ASUS A4B00K 64 bit (installing the 64 bit-ubuntu), but a mate had the same problem with another ASUS laptop, installing the 32-bit ubuntu.. (both breezy badger)

the screen also flickers when I boot, during the "loading modules", "initializing /dev" and stuff, that entire list (in brown, under a brown ubuntu-logo), and when shutting down, the checklist of the shutting down...

P.S. I do not know if this is the right Source Package Name, please forgive me if I was wrong (probably)

I currently do not have Dapper, is that a stable release already or not? all downloads seem to be for 5.10 (Breezy)

I have however upgraded everything with Synaptic (including kernel and all) and the problem is still the same

indeed, adding vga=normal to my grub menu.lst has solved the problem (more or less)

I suppose I should go mark this bug as duplicate? (sorry, I'm rather new to this launchpad-system and everything)

Launchpad Janitor (janitor) wrote : This bug is now reported against the 'linux' package

Beginning with the Hardy Heron 8.04 development cycle, all open Ubuntu kernel bugs need to be reported against the "linux" kernel package. We are automatically migrating this linux-source-2.6.15 kernel bug to the new "linux" package. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make this transition. Also, if you would be interested in testing the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release, it is available at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing . Please let us know your results. Thanks!
